CLASSROOM PROCEDURES & STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

Arrive on time to class with all materials including your instrument, rosin, cleaning cloth, shoulder rest or rock stop, music folio with music, and a pencil.  Any student arriving to class without an excuse during the first five minutes following the bell will be entered into Infinite Campus as tardy.  Any student wishing to gain entrance following the five minutes must have an excuse or go to Safe for the period.  (This is in accordance with the Henry Clay tardy policy.)

Be in your seat ready to tune four minutes following the bell.  All backpacks, violin cases, and viola cases, should be placed on or under the tables at the edges of the room.  We are all tired of tripping.

Stay focused while you are in class!  DO NOT EAT during rehearsal.  DO NOT GO INTO THE PRACTICE ROOM SUITE, unless you are practicing and have permission to do so.  If you are sick, go home.

Passes out of the room will be limited to one per month.  Passes must be presented to Ms. Foster for a signature before leaving the room.  Exemptions to this rule include requests from the administrative office or guidance office.

Do not take home the blue music folios.  Use the paper folders from Hurst to transport music to and from school.

Lunch in the room for 4th period students is contingent upon ALL lunch goers cleaning up after themselves and being ready to begin rehearsal on time.  Lunch time privileges will be revoked for infractions.  Non-orchestra students may NOT lunch in the room.  ALL 4th period students are responsible for putting away stands and chairs after rehearsal.

Perform regular maintenance on your instrument.  Periodically I receive catalogs from various string vendors, and will keep these around the room in the event you need to make a purchase (strings, rosin, cleaning solution, etc.).

Attend all after school rehearsals, which will fall on THURSDAYS this year.  Please examine the list of dates included in the hand book.

Attend and participate in a professional manner in all performances.  This includes acting appropriately while others are performing.  A substantial portion of the orchestra grade is based on our performances.

All violinists and violists will be issued lockers for instruments.  These must be used since space in the rehearsal, practice, and storage rooms is limited.  All cellos and basses used for rehearsal will be stored in the instrument storage room.  This room must be kept clean.  DO NOT LOITER IN THIS ROOM.

Be respectful by treating others as you wish to be treated and follow the school rules.
