STATE FARM GOOD NEIGHBOR SERVICE-LEARNING GRANT (US applicants only)

State Farm® and Youth Service America (YSA) know that students, teachers and schools can use service-learning as a tool to help youth build stronger academic skills, foster civic responsibility and develop leadership abilities. Join millions of young people across the globe who are impacting their communities through service-learning.

Youth Service America and the State Farm Companies Foundation are offering the State Farm Good Neighbor Service-Learning Grant for youth across the United States. These grants of up to $1,000 support youth (ages 5-25), teachers, or school-based service-learning coordinators in implementing service-learning projects for National and Global Youth Service Day, April 20-22, 2007. To learn more, download an application and grant guidelines at www.YSA.org/awards or email GoodNeighbor@ysa.org. Projects can address any number of themes including the environment, disaster relief, health, teen issues, education, interfaith dialogue, intergenerational relationships, homelessness, and literacy, amongst others. We seek projects that are co-led by youth and adult allies such as parents, counselors, coaches, teachers, youth leaders, etc.  A significant portion of the project must take place on National and Global Youth Service Day, April 20-22, 2007.  Application materials are available at www.YSA.org/awards.  Questions? Email youthrising@ysa.org Deadline: 5pm EST on Oct. 12, 2006.

Red, White & Green !CLIMATE CHANGE GRANT (US applicants only)
Youth Service America and the Civil Society Institute are excited to announce the Red, White & Green Climate Change Grant. This opportunity offers up to $500 to implement a service-learning project about climate change and is open to all young people in the United States between the ages of 15 and 25 and to organizations that engage youth ages 15 to 25.  We welcome projects where youth work in partnership with adults (parents, coaches, teachers, youth leaders, etc.): but remember, this is an opportunity for youth to shine.  Projects should be youth-led, and the service must take place between October 1 and November 30, 2006.

Selected grantees will bring their project results and their public policy recommendations to Washington, DC for a Youth Summit in 2007. Youth participants will share outcomes and next steps of their service ventures, engage climate change experts, and present their recommendations to policy makers and candidates hoping to capture the White House in 2008.  Visit redwhiteandgreen.org to learn more about this initiative. Applicants need to download BOTH the Application and Guidelines in order to submit a competitive application, available at www.YSA.org/awards.  Questions?  Email redwhiteandgreen@ysa.org Deadline: Sept. 1, 2006
