Admission and Continuing Eligibility

Eligibility for the Liberal Arts Academy requires documentation, two of which must be a 9th stanine score (96% or higher) on both a nationally normed full scale mental ability by age and a total/partial battery of achievement tests.  Applicants may request a review of qualifying scores from testing within the past two years, or they may take the Academy qualifying examinations administered each fall.

All current Fayette County Public Schools eighth graders will take the EXPLORE test in September.  The EXPLORE test will provide the total battery score that will be used as the normed standardized achievement test required for consideration for Liberal Arts Academy admission.

All current Fayette County Public Schools eighth graders that apply to the Liberal Arts Academy will be administered the Otis Lennon full scale mental ability examination in their middle school during the school day during November.

The Liberal Arts Academy will work with private school and home schooled students to facilitate the required testing required to be considered for the Liberal Arts Academy.

Students and parent who accept placement in the Academy sign a contract each year.  To remain in good standing, students must maintain an unweighted 3.0 GPA and complete the program of studies.

All applicants must complete and return the Parent Questionnaire.
