Henry Clay High School Band

Color Guard

Visual stimulation accompanying music is a basis for most movie and theatrical events enhancing the audiences experience. Colorguard is an exciting part of the marching band, and its own entity even, that expresses the music being heard to the audience. A colorguard's initial role was to only present color on the field. But today, the guard tells the story of the show. With ever evolving equipment, work. and dance background, the performing members are very exciting to watch.

Winterguard has opened up a new venue for colorguard. This indoor performance group performs and competes from January through April of each year. The Winterguard consists of only guard members performing to music (recorded or even live sometimes) in a gymnasium. Any student, male/female,is free to audition for the Winterguard.

To be in colorguard takes dedication and a positive attitude. The rest you will learn. Any Henry Clay student who is interested in finding out more of what it takes to be a part of the Henry Clay Colorguard, should contact the band room at 381-3441. Auditions for the fall guard are sometime in late April to early May.
